Role Overview
This is a career-defining opportunity for a chartered accountant looking to make a high-quality first move from public practice into industry. The role sits within a well-established corporate finance function supporting a multi-entity Australian and New Zealand business with active projects, tenders and system initiatives underway.
You’ll work closely with a CFO who trained in Big 4 and maintains a strong technical foundation, particularly across tax and commercial accounting. The environment is hands-on, supportive and designed to develop someone into a future subject matter expert or finance leader, rather than a static reporting role.
Key Responsibilities
Support group-level financial accounting across Australian and New Zealand entities
Prepare and post month-end journals, balance sheet reconciliations and workpapers
Assist with statutory reporting, audit processes and external advisor coordination
Support corporate tax activities including BAS, GST, FBT and income tax processes
Contribute to tax-effect accounting and maintenance of fixed asset registers
Provide accounting and tax input into tenders, projects and commercial initiatives
Support business decisions relating to growth, structural change and new initiatives
Assist with finance system improvements and ERP implementation from an accounting perspective
Partner with payroll and operations teams on new pay codes and compliance considerations
Contribute to continuous improvement of financial controls, governance and reporting
About You
CA or CPA qualified (or near completion), ideally trained in a chartered accounting firm
Background in audit, business services or tax within a professional practice environment
Strong technical accounting foundation with an interest in commercial application
Comfortable stepping into an autonomous role with exposure to senior stakeholders
Curious, engaged and motivated by long-term career development rather than short-term title
Looking for a first or second move into industry with genuine progression opportunity
