Role Overview
This is a rare opportunity for a chartered accountant to step into a hands-on corporate role with genuine CFO exposure and project involvement, rather than a narrow reporting position. The role sits within a well-established finance team supporting a multi-entity Australian and New Zealand business with active projects and system initiatives underway.
You’ll work closely with a CFO who brings strong technical capability and a mentoring mindset, providing guidance while trusting you with autonomy. The role is well suited to someone who wants to broaden their experience across accounting, tax and commercial activity while building credibility as a future subject matter expert.
Key Responsibilities
Deliver month-end financial accounting across multiple entities
Prepare journals, reconciliations and supporting workpapers
Support statutory reporting, audits and external advisor engagement
Assist with group tax compliance including BAS, GST, FBT and income tax
Contribute to tax-effect accounting and fixed asset register maintenance
Provide accounting and tax input into projects, tenders and commercial decisions
Support business initiatives such as acquisitions, structural changes and growth projects
Assist with ERP and finance system implementations from an accounting perspective
Collaborate with payroll and operations teams on compliance and process matters
Support continuous improvement across financial reporting and governance
About You
CA or CPA qualified (or near completion), with training in a chartered firm
Experience in audit, business services or tax within public practice
Strong technical grounding with curiosity for commercial application
Comfortable working closely with senior leadership
Keen to move into a role offering variety, ownership and visibility
Considering a first move into industry that won’t deskill you
