Role Overview
This position sits at the core of a Brisbane-based finance function, combining hands-on financial accounting with responsibility for corporate tax coordination across Australian and New Zealand entities. The role supports accurate reporting, strong controls and compliant tax outcomes within a multi-entity operating environment.
With ongoing business activity and a steady pipeline of work, the focus is on delivery, reliability and practical problem-solving. The role works closely with finance leadership, payroll, external advisors and commercial teams, providing exposure beyond month-end into projects, systems and business decision-making.
Key Responsibilities
Support end-to-end financial accounting, including month-end close, journals and balance sheet integrity
Prepare and maintain workpapers supporting statutory reporting and audit requirements
Coordinate Australian and New Zealand corporate income tax processes with external advisors
Review BAS and IAS submissions and manage GST return preparation and lodgement
Prepare and manage Australian FBT returns across employing entities
Complete annual tax effect accounting for Australian and New Zealand entities
Maintain tax-related fixed asset registers and supporting documentation
Calculate and support contractor payroll tax obligations
Prepare the Taxable Payments Annual Report
Maintain tax governance frameworks, controls and documentation
Provide accounting and tax input into tenders, commercial proposals and projects
Review payroll pay codes from a financial and tax compliance perspective
Support finance and ERP system enhancements from an accounting and tax lens
Assist with audit processes and ad-hoc financial analysis as required
About You
Proven experience as a Financial Accountant or similar role within a corporate environment
Strong grounding in Australian financial accounting with exposure to corporate tax compliance
Working knowledge of GST, FBT, payroll tax and tax effect accounting
Experience operating in multi-entity or complex business structures
Comfortable partnering with payroll, tax advisors and non-finance stakeholders
Detail-oriented, organised and delivery-focused
CA or CPA qualified (or working towards completion)
