Role Overview:

We are recruiting a Senior Payroll Officer for a Sydney-based payroll services environment supporting a defined portfolio of external clients. This role sits within a structured payroll function delivering high-accuracy, end-to-end payroll processing across multiple pay cycles and industrial instruments.

The position is suited to an experienced payroll professional with exceptional attention to detail, strong client management capability and confidence working across complex payroll scenarios. You will be responsible for managing your own book of clients while ensuring compliance, accuracy and consistent service delivery.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage end-to-end payroll processing for a dedicated portfolio of clients.

  • Interpret and apply Awards, EBAs and individual employment agreements accurately.

  • Process payroll for multiple pay frequencies with a high degree of accuracy and timeliness.

  • Act as the primary payroll contact for assigned clients, responding to queries and resolving issues.

  • Ensure compliance with Australian payroll legislation, including PAYG, superannuation and leave entitlements.

  • Maintain accurate payroll records, reconciliations and reporting.

  • Support payroll audits and compliance reviews as required.

  • Contribute to continuous improvement of payroll processes and controls.


About You:

  • Proven experience in a senior payroll role, ideally within a bureau or client-facing payroll environment.

  • Demonstrated experience managing a book of payroll clients end-to-end.

  • Exceptional attention to detail with a strong focus on accuracy and compliance.

  • Strong working knowledge of Australian payroll legislation and industrial instruments.

  • Confident communicator with the ability to build trusted client relationships.

  • Well organised, reliable and comfortable working to strict payroll deadlines.

  • Experience with payroll systems and high-volume payroll environments (system agnostic).
