Role Overview:
An established national business is seeking a Senior Payroll Officer to join its Brisbane Support Office, reporting to the Payroll Manager within a well-structured finance team. This role supports a multi-entity environment and is responsible for the accurate, timely delivery of end-to-end payroll operations.
Working closely with senior finance leadership, including the CFO and Group Financial Controller, you will play a key role in maintaining payroll integrity, compliance and reporting standards across the organisation. This is a hands-on payroll position suited to someone confident managing weekly and fortnightly payroll cycles in a high-accountability environment.
Key Responsibilities:
End-to-end payroll processing across weekly and fortnightly payroll cycles
Ensuring correct authorisation and onboarding of new employees, including tax documentation
Accurate calculation of wages, salaries, allowances, overtime and extended hours
Processing leave entitlements, termination payments and final pays
Remittance of PAYG tax, superannuation and other employee deductions
Payroll reconciliations, reporting and variance analysis
Liaison with external payroll providers and regulatory bodies where required
Maintaining compliance with relevant legislation, awards and enterprise agreements
Supporting audit processes and internal finance reporting requirements
About You:
Demonstrated experience as a Senior Payroll Officer or experienced Payroll Officer within a medium to large organisation
Strong working knowledge of Australian payroll legislation, tax and superannuation obligations
Experience processing high-volume payroll in a multi-entity or project-based environment
Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and strong systems capability
Exposure to HR3 and/or Jobpac highly regarded
High attention to detail with a structured, methodical approach
Confident communicator able to liaise with finance leaders and external bodies
Reliable, discreet and committed to payroll accuracy and compliance
